Admission Policy
Graduate School of Kagawa Nutrition University
The Graduate School of Nutrition Sciences aims at supporting students to be specialized in nutrition-related health and food science to contribute to the physical and mental wellbeing of the human being through intake of balanced food and nutrition. Those applicants shall have: (a) clear career objectives pursue studies and researches in the fields of nutrition and health science; and (b) Adequate prerequisite knowledge and academic training to conduct graduate level researches.
Nutrition Science Program
This program is open to those who would are committed to study and practice nutrition science through evidence-based scientific approaches to analyze the impacts of foods and nutrition to human bodies and spirits.
Health Science Program
This program is open to those who are interested in fundamental studies on bio-medical aspects, and intend to promote health way of living through community-based and/or school-based public health programs.
Curriculum Policy
Graduate School of Kagawa Nutrition University
The following program is formulated to help students deepen their understandings on specific research theme of their interest and ensure their academic research skills for the researches and broaden their base knowledge by learning.
- A series of comprehensive lectures exclusively by full-time faculty members will be provided to all the students at graduate school to understand the diversified and inter-disciplinary nature of Health and Nutrition Science before formally commencing on research.
- In addition, various courses of the advanced lectures from broad area related to nutrition and health will be opened. In particular, the advanced lectures will include: Basic Nutrition, Applied Nutrition, Ecology Science, Food Culture and Food Science for the Nutrition Science Program, and the advanced lectures covering heath science, Clinical biochemistry and Applied health at school would be opened for the Health Science Program.
- In order to conduct researches in a scientific manner, the lecture on research methodology has started as one of lectures open to all departments.
- A comprehensive seminar has been opened for students to identify their research theme and assess their meaning in the context of nutrition science and health science in light of these sciences’s diversified and inter-disciplinary natures. The seminar is a participatory one in which each student has to presenting the justification, rationale and unique contribution of their research theme prior to commencement of the respective research.
- In the programs of master degree and the second half of the doctoral degree, ensure adequate guidance to each student by an individually assigned professors as the main advisor while more comprehensive technical advice would be provided by a team of professors covering inter-disciplinary topics. Further, each student will make a mid-term presentation in presence of all faculties.
Undergraduate school of Nutrition Science
- To make a smooth transition from high school to undergraduate school, special lecture on essential subject shall be provided in the first year.
- During the first two years, the students are mandate to select liberal art subjects to have broad prospective before going for specialization from the third year onwards.
- Lectures on specialized subjects have been designed for students to learn in a step-by-step manner so that students themselves to review and study on their own and ensure adequate understanding and knowledge before going to the next step. Compulsory subjects required for acquiring a license of registered dietitians/nutritionist etc is also integrated in the curriculum of the respective departments.
- The curriculum has been designed to reflect the policy of the respective department and ensure timely acquisition of expertise. To the extent possible, utilize interactive and participatory method of teaching such as problem solving and simulation in order for students.
- From early stage at the school, through internships and field visits, expose students to practical examples in the societies where nutrition sciences and nutritionists are contributing to the wellbeing of society, in order to visualize their career upon graduation from the school, and motivate them for the studies and researches in the school.
Diploma Policy
Graduate School of Kagawa Nutrition University
I.Master Course
The Master Degree (either Nutrition Science or Health Science) shall be provided to those students: (a) who: fulfilled required credits and (b) who passed the screening of master thesis or completed the report for professionals training. Those students must have acquired the research and necessary ability required as a professionals who have high expertise with the broad prospective on nutritional science and health science.
Ⅱ.Doctoral course
The Doctorial Degree shall be provide to those students: (a) who passed the review of their respective doctoral thesis, (b) the final examination and (c) who has been acknowledged by the School to have acquired highly specialized research ability and knowledge to conduct researches independently in nutrition science and/or health science.
Undergraduate school of Nutrition Science
Bachelor degree shall be provided to those students who attend KNU for at least four years and who complete the required credits.
- Acquisition of basic understanding on diversified modern society and underlying principle of nature: equipped with essential learning skills, students will therefore have an ability to grasp the nutrition and health science issues beyond the narrow prospective and look for a comprehensive solution.
- Acquisition of logical analytical skills, solution-oriented and proactive way of thinking, and essential knowledge on nutrition and health science. Those students will have therefore acquired the skills to discover, research and solve various problems related to flood, nutrition, and health.
- Acquisition of Leadership, Commitment, and Ethics. Students who has rich humanity with committed to wellbeing of the society with good ethics, and pursue their careers with adequate leadership coordination skills.
- Acquisition of life-long learning and self-motivation. A student who continuously learn new knowledge throughout their lives and improve skills with self-motivation.
